Being The Perfect Guest
I’m skipping on over to visit the delightful Meredith at Perfection Pending today! I plan on being the perfect guest. Not hard to do mind you. I love her blog. It’s a refreshing realistic take on life as a mom to three young kids. This wonderful voice of reason, humor and honesty has agreed to let me vent to dazzle her readers about how I’ve changed since becoming a mom.
My never ending experiences have enabled me to come up with a new definition for the word Mommy. It’s: CRAZY VOLUNTEER. However I suspect we can sub out Mommy and replace it with Parent: CRAZY VOLUNTEER.
Sound about right? Great. Put down those soccer whistles, pack away your volunteer ID lanyards and stash the clipboards.
It’s vacation time over at Meredith’s!

See ya back here soon. I’ll have the blender on. Promise.

Kelly you are so inspiring with your tireless volunteering despite being a single Mum, and still volunteering, even after they have left home ! I too have done many years of volunteering and am now at the place where I would like to do more, perhaps in a different direction, so am on the lookout for the right place for me. I grew up with a mum who volunteered for everything and continued to do so all of her life ! Even at 91, she was still driving people to appointments and helping out with the hiking club and Unicef and wherever else there was a need. I remember her saying if you need something done, adk a busy person to help out !
Thank you Jane. Your support here is so very much appreciated. You know, every time you mention your mum I realise she was one very special individual. Driving folks to appointments, helping out with the hiking club and Unicef? At 91. Wow. I’m looking forward to seeing your next volunteering phase unfold. It’ll be a worthy one and they’ll be lucky to have you.
Ah yes….the mommy years….I did lots of volunteer work when my son was little. He is all grown up now and about to marry, but still needs his mommy ya know…LOL! Volunteering is a wonderful way to ‘give back’….I applaud you for all your efforts! Our current gypsy lifestyle doesn’t allow much time for volunteer work, but someday when we settle back down I hope to become super involved in animal rescue! Just love them critters…all shapes and sizes!
Oh Debbie – love that your son still needs his mommy! How exciting that he is about to marry too. I admire your desire (ooooh nice rhyming McKenz) to get involved in animal rescue. Such a worthy cause. Hoping you can get to it soon. Looking forward to seeing Buster Part Four!
Thanks so much Kelly for your awesome post! I LOVED IT! I haven’t gotten into the volunteering too much yet, but it sounds like you were a great supportive mom!
Thanks for the opportunity to post on your site. It was so much fun. And your time for full on crazy voluteering will be here before you know it Meredith!
