Kelly Mckenzie
Kelly McKenzie worked at her mother’s Vancouver Asian antique store for over a decade. After struggling to make her first sale, she went on to become her mother's dependable right-hand gal, picking up bookkeeping skills, marathon running and a husband along the way. A cast member of Seattle’s first Listen To Your Mother show, she’s been published in community newspapers across Canada, in the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series and in various blogs and anthologies. Never, Never, Hardly Ever is a result of Frankie’s endless encouragement to “get our antics out into the world.”

There is nothing greater than sharing in the joy of Christmas. The magic in a child’s eyes that somehow mirror the twinkling lights that adore our homes inside and out. Watching shoppers scurry around looking for that perfect gift. Gleefully watching the male species trying to decide what young sales associate mimics the size of their significant other. The smells wafting from homes of Christmas baking traditions. Now a new guilty pleasure of a blog shared by you both. Thanks for reminding me to “believe in the magic of Christmas” however it may look.
Hi Janice! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Love the “… male species trying to decide…” Yes,it is a magical time of year! I’m conflicted though – want to press the fast forward button to make the time move faster yet I want to press the hold button to make sure I appreciate everything. I must be patient. Happy December to you and yours!
Love that you guys are doing this! Awesome!! –Lisa
Some of us are doing it a bit too early … Oooops.
Mothers and Their Son’s Boots and Mother’s and Their Daughter’s Frozen Bedrooms ~ most definitely a chapter for the book. Your stories ring true to the traditions of West Coast kids away back east at university. I sent my son a lovely pair of winter boots due to same situation. when I went to visit months later they were still in the box, tissue and all. As for the frozen windows. Yes, so true as well as icicles hanging from the inside of the front door entrance. Lovely. What does’t kill them sure makes them stronger. Henry’s boots look like darn fine snow crunchers!
What is it about the boys …
